Before passing on with some considerations let me inform you about the following dates:
In order to “not stop here” we go ahead planning in a rhythm that should allow that all of us can make it: three events a year:
21st of February: International Mother Language Day (IMLD)
21st of June: IMLD follow-up
21st of October: IMLD follow-up

When we talk about "Mother Language" and "Less Resourced Languages" one thing that must never be forgotten is the contents of the Universal Declaration of Linguistic Rights.
Quoting from the linguistic-declaration.org website:
Today Unesco sent us the official theme for International Mother Language Day 2010:
"The importance of multilingualism, foreign languages learning and translation for peace and dialogue within the framework of the International Year for the Rapprochement of Cultures, 2010."
It's a great opportunity and in particular us who work with cultures and languages can do a lot.

For Christmas 2010 the Association Happy Hours is creating a hommage to a very dear person, beloved by the people in Maiori and on the Amalfi Coast in general. Unfortunately he left this world too soon this year in September: Peppino Di Lieto.
To achieve this we thought that the best way is to involve all of you to give homage to the poet of Maiori inviting you to recite one of his most significant poems, and we are sure that he would have been really happy about this.
translate.org.za recently packaged their spell checkers for Mozilla Firefox and for OpenOffice.org.
Now some help testing them is needed. You can easily help by testing the spell checkers yourself (see instructions below) if you speak those languages or by inviting people from language specific groups.
Thanks to translate.org.za for helping so many languages.

Localisation in less resourced languages and the very particular scenario we often encounter.
Localisation must be looked at in a very different way when talking about less resourced languages.
Vox Humanitatis deals with cultures and with that also with languages, particular ones, those called "less resourced languages". This means there is not much material available in these languages.
