... of thought ful people can change the world. Indeed it is the only thing that ever has. (Margaret Mead)
This could have been the subtitle of Agis09. We left Ireland with the feeling that loads of changes are going to come along. Whoever we met had wonderful ideas or great already running projects. There is so much energy around you cannot imagine.
The Action week for Global Information Sharing was a joint initiative by Translators without Borders and The Rosetta Foundation. With the help of many volunteers it became a unique experience, probably for most of us.
We are sure that during the coming months more and more connections will be established to help cultures to survive on one hand and to help people in difficult situations on the other.
When we thought about the translation marathon, like always we considered it to be more a kind of a workshop in place where people can use the software provided, ask for information, talk with people. Things went a bit different and actually we were translating contemporarily in 5 countries reaching results we would not have expected in a first place. There will be a separate article about that stating the results, soon.
Considering those days it might be useful to add these two quotes:
Be the change you want to see in the world. (Mahatma Gandhi)
We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give. (Winston Churchill)
