The first thing to do is making two kinds of inventories based on these questions:
1) How do we want to have our future life?
2) How is the situation now, where do we start from?
I am quite sure that if we ask these questions to very different people in different places, living in different circumstances, their answers will be very similar.
Now this is your homework, yes, for you who are reading: write down the answers for yourself, before you start to read examples and descriptions - I am not going to give them in this post, but I would like to see some people at least who tell me about their views before that, just to make sure that what I understand is what is actually needed.
There is one thing that must be clear beforehand: nobody on the whole Coast will be able to do things alone. No single person, no association, no administration. The question, if we can reach the goal, depends mainly on the ability of people to work together. Otherwise we will reach a point where there is a community within a wider community whereby the smaller one partly can achieve some goals.
Some very basic concepts on tourism:
Remeber: all of us who live on the Coast, from children to adults to old people: we are the "business cards" of the Amalfi Coast. Whether you work autonomously or are employed: you directly reflect what the Amalfi Coast is about. It is you chosing each time you meet someone what is being reflected.
A lot can be achieved by doing the right marketing. By placing the information in the right places, but this information must be true. It is much better to under state what can be offered and then over deliver than the other way round.
What I want to underline again here: there is no way to see tourism as separate from culture and culture includes also agriculture, not only: local food, language, music, theatre, history etc.
So now, before we go ahead: write up your lists about how you see the actual state and about reachable goals as mentioned above and then we can start to consider what can be "really" done one step at a time and what makes sens in a short and long term. Please keep in mind: growing backwards is necessary.
