For Christmas 2010 the Association Happy Hours is creating a hommage to a very dear person, beloved by the people in Maiori and on the Amalfi Coast in general. Unfortunately he left this world too soon this year in September: Peppino Di Lieto.
To achieve this we thought that the best way is to involve all of you to give homage to the poet of Maiori inviting you to recite one of his most significant poems, and we are sure that he would have been really happy about this.
The poem we chose and which we invite all of you to recite is:
"Dammece ‘a mano"
All you need to do is:
Record a video while reciting the poem “Dammece ‘a mano” (alone or together with friends with whatever recording device, incluso mobile phone)
Send us the video
on 20th of December 2010 the latest.
Where and how to send it:
By e-mail: associazionehappyhours@hotmail.it
or just take it to: the bar Sciuè Sciuè, Via Nuova Chiunzi 10, Maiori
Please include: name and surname of the speaker(s)
Technical note: all digital video formats are being accepted.
Your contributions are going to be used to create a "unique" homage to the poet Peppino Di Lieto.
Dammece ‘a mano
by Peppino Di Lieto
Si tu vuo’ fa’ quaccosa pe’ fest ‘e Natale
Si vuo’ aiutà quaccuno e sulluvà ‘o morale
Nun c’è bisogno, amico, che vai troppo luntano
Puoi fa’ del bene ccà, ce l’hai a purtat’’e mano.
Attuorno a te ce sta tanta gente sola,
è triste e pucundrosa, bisogna ‘e na parola
nun tene chiù nisciuno, e figli so’ luntano,
tu chiamale pe’ nome e stregnele na mano
vedrai che cambiamento! Gli spunterà un sorriso
a te nun costa niente, pe’ isso è ‘o Paraviso.
Chest’ nun giova sulo a chill’ che consoli
Ma giova pure a nuie pe’ nun sentirci soli,
pe’ sciogliere ‘stu gelo che ci attanaglia ‘o core,
nun servono ricchezze, ci vo’ sultant’ Ammore!
